Well, it's been a minute since we've seen a food post on here. To be clear, I mean a savory food post as I literally just posted those gluten-free gingerbread cookies - which you should run to make. But because a few of you have been requesting some savoury food, I would like to present to you this short rib pasta sauce.
Okay, per you're Instagram request, I have the full 2020 holiday gift guide summarized in this post. It was really fun being able to release a new one each week, but I definitely get the appeal of having it all out at once and having everything in one place and easy to find. Hence this bonus post! This 2020 holiday gift guide was definitely a labor of love. I have so many fun ideas for next year already. I sincerely hope with a shift in getting a nanny gives me the bandwidth to be able to make you an epic guide for 2021! We will see how that pans out since getting a nanny comes with additional items such as needing to work!
It's almost tree time! It's almost tree time! As I write this, we are contemplating getting out to go and get our tree a day early. Now that it is December, McGregor is all in on the holiday spirit and isn't scroodge-ing me for starting festivities too early. Also, not that he would, but he is forbidden from telling me it's too early now because frankly, at this point we are late on the tree front! I cannot believe it's almost a week into December already. I am D.I.Y-ing all of the ornaments on the tree this year (I say that now, but I haven't seen them ON the tree so I may mix it up - stay tuned). Either way, I'm excited to let the creativity be seen on the tree. My favorite ornaments of this year are these D.I.Y Christmas ornaments with greenery.
Okay - last week of gift guides, you guys! Can you believe it!? We made it through FIVE weeks of them. Next year, I will try to get it all out in one go, but my eyes are legitimately cross-eyed even from going slowly. So here we are, at the final gift guide for under 50 and under 100. Under 50 and under 100, I felt, were the perfect categories to end with. A good round-up like items for under 50 and under 100 felt ideal for you "last minute" shoppers. I realize that no one is last minute if you're here today; we are still in the first week of December, after all.

The holiday D.I.Y saga continues! Today, the saga is featuring D.I.Y mini Christmas trees. They are so cute, simple, very customizable, and inexpensive (depending on how many colors you intend to do). I envisioned part of my boho holiday decor vibes to include many neutrals and non-traditional holiday colors. In addition to this, I also knew I wanted to have a ton of trees to create the woodland theme for my mantle decor, but I did not want the expense of that many trees (more specifically, my husband did not want the expense of that many trees LOL). That's when my "can I make exactly what I'm envisioning for less money" mentality came into play again. After a few moments of thought (honestly, that's how quickly it came it me), I decided I could make it for way less, and so these D.I.Y mini Christmas trees were born.
This week’s homebody and self care gift guide is geared towards anyone currently living in a pandemic where they are meant to stay home as much as possible… So pretty much this one is for everyone! Come Christmas, we will be just finishing 10 months of our “new normal.” We will all likely be very ready to emerge from enduring more lockdowns, but the health authorities may not be ready for us to do so. This homebody and self care gift guide is designed to help get people over that finish line. To help them embrace the last bit of a slowed-down version of life, enjoy their homes, and find ways to enjoy some much-needed time to themselves.
We are nearing a (pretty much) fully decorated house for this year. I have decided only to tackle the main floor since we had exactly one small box of decorations to start with. One small box of decorations does not leave an impression on our main floor, so I had a lot to tackle on the decor front to make it feel like a winter wonderland in here. Decorating a large amount of space for the holidays with a blank slate is exciting and incredibly overwhelming. I feel so fortunate that this year Pineridge Hollow, a local Canadian shop, helped take away some of that overwhelmed feeling. They inspired all of my holiday mantle decor ideas by gifting me the most amazing package of goodies.
Each and every year, I struggle with where to put the amazingly thoughtful Christmas greeting cards that we receive. There's no designated spot in my home, and therefore, there is rarely a great spot to showcase them without everything looking too cluttered. This year, I anticipate an influx of Christmas and holiday cards from everyone. Given the strange year we've been having, I think it's a great way to be able to tell people you care that you've been thinking of them and to update them with what you've been up to during COVID - I know it's probably not the normal update you'd be sharing.
Round three of the 2020 Holiday Gift Guide is all ready to go with gift ideas for foodies, parents, and in-laws. I obviously am game to pair easy 2020 gift guide categories with challenging ones. For example, out of the foodie, parents, and in-laws categories, foodies for me - or more specifically, people who enjoy spending time in the kitchen - is literally a walk in the park. I came up with these in my sleep. On the other hand, I find parents and in-laws more challenging. Mostly because they have everything - and if they don't, they tend to buy it for themselves. As a result, I tried to think outside the box as much as possible while also focusing on items that they may not necessarily buy for themselves.
