alfway milestone for the One Room Challenge, and guess what!? We have an office paint colour up and running here. I'm so excited about my choice to go with dark and moody. There was a lot of convincing not to paint the ceiling or to go with a lighter door colour. Ultimately, I had to stick with my gut and moody up the office space. PS - I'm Canadian over here so I do spell colour with a U! Just in case you didn't know.

To Paint the Ceiling or Not to Paint the Ceiling

Listen, we got the room all primed and whether or not to paint the ceiling was a big debate in this household. My husband was very hesitant when it came to painting the ceiling. He was worried it would look odd having everything all in one colour. He was also worried about how dark it would be in there (fair!). Part of the office paint colour selection included three colour options. So I compromised and went with the lightest of the dark paint colour options… but still painted the ceiling. To be fair, I told my husband it’s just paint and could be redone. Thankfully, he agreed.
We also had the same debate about the doors and the trim. I don’t even need to tell you what’s happening with that, do I?!

The Office Paint Colour

We need another coat on everything, of course, but the office paint colour still has a hint of green in it. Remember my last office, where the colour was Benjamin Moore – Ashwood Moss?! Well, I didn’t want to go too wild and do the same colour, so I went with a warm, moody, neutral colour with green undertones (as an ode to the old office): Sherwin Williams – Urbane Bronze. I can’t wait to get coat two of the office paint colour up and running!

Next Time for Week 5

What we can expect next week is a fully painted office with two coats of Sherwin Williams – Urbane Bronze. If we’re lucky, there may even be some hardware! The hardware was so challenging to pick out, but I think we’ve got it under control, and for not a terrible price. Can someone tell me WHY hardware is so expensive?!
