As many of you know, my mama lives in California. There are so many perks that come along with that - like somewhere warm to jet off to for the weekend or a warm palm tree Christmas'. Aside from just generally being very far from my mom, I hadn't noticed any particularly terrible downfalls. But right now with COVID, it is the worst. It has been FIVE months since my mom has seen Sloane. To say my mom is obsessed with Sloane is not even doing it justice. You can tell the genuine love she has for my little munchkin. If I could plant a go pro on Sloane so my mom could watch her every move, she would have that screen on constantly. Super creepy, I know. But honestly, she wants to be part of her life in any way she can.
All of this to say: doesn't going to a cabin or camping always remind you of making s'mores as a kid?! That nostalgia of roasting your marshmallow on the fire; or more like having to blow out the flaming marshmallow swiftly is something I think everyone remembers about outdoor living. So getting ready to get up to the cabin had me craving s'mores. But a few problems at home, we have no firepit and no marshmallow roasting sticks... So I resorted to my non-rustic kitchen, which resulted in the creation of these s'more tarts.
Is everyone banana breaded out?! I wanted banana bread, but I was pretty sick of seeing and making everything in bread format. I've also noticed in our house; bread format gets wasted more easily. I think because an entire slice of banana bread is too much for Sloane to take down. We'll ignore the fact that she smooshes the life out of her food when she's done with it. But, I couldn't even save hers and eat it after.
Anyone else obsessing over the animal print craze these days? I am fully into it. Usually, I just go for plain old black or plain old white. But for some reason the animal print has got me going wild...See what I did there?! Cue laughter. But in all honesty, right now, my jam is leopard print, which is why this Thursday's three is all about the leopard moments.
I can actually hear my mom questioning most of this olive bruschetta recipe. Not doubting the deliciousness of the recipe itself but questioning why her daughter, who dislikes olives immensely, is posting a recipe all about olive bruschetta.
I don't know about you guys, but comfort food is my jam. Chicken and polenta is not something I have made until recently. BUT it falls under the comfort food category for me. Given Sloane's new found obsession with polenta, I'm thinking she categorizes it as the same.
This week, it is all hair products. My hair is fine, straight, and incredibly finicky, despite how it looks. If it's cut the wrong way or I use the wrong shampoo/conditioner, it goes greasy very fast, and I'm shocked I'm not bald at the rate my hair falls out. I shed more than your golden retriever.
The perfect charred flavor and crunch of this Mexican street corn coupled with the slight creaminess but lime-i-ness (not a word but today it is!) embedded in the corn. Then the cheese. OH, the cheese.
Do you ever just feel like a bag of garbage because you've been eating so poorly? This refreshing smoothie comes at an ideal time for me. I've been eating so poorly lately. Partially because I haven't had the time to put thoughts into healthy lunches - the meal I'm really slacking on - and partly because I haven't prioritized it.
SIX (!!!) years ago when I first saw the movie Chef there was a scene that spoke to me. The scene was Jon Favreau making Scarlett Johansson a pasta dish that resembles a classic Italian dish, aglio e olio. Needless to say, that scene stole my heart...
