One Room Challenge Week 6: An Updated Workbench

We are into week 6 of the One Room Challenge, and I restarted one of the workbenches for the garage. There is no better time for a quick little redo… two weeks before the challenge ends. Kidding! This is an awful time for a redo, but it was necessary and had to be done. Now, I have a very clean, nearly complete mitre saw station that will look much better than before, especially once the doors are on. There’s still so much to do and now it’s time I get into “oh shit” mode – two weeks is not enough time for everything that needs to be done! Let’s review shall we?!

The Updated Workbench

The updated workbench is looking much, much, cleaner than before. We now have a lot more room for storage underneath. Only two doors will need to go on instead of four. The back and sides are closed up and look sleek. Although this redo took up most of this week – it needed to happen to achieve the cleaner look I love and am obsessed with. Worth it, I would say. Oh! Importantly, I also got proper casters for this. I tried to get the casters that fold up and down, but that didn’t work given the space constraints. Instead, I got some little ones that lock on all four corners. Now that I have them under the workbench I like how discrete they are.

Next Steps on the Workbench

What needs to happen in the next steps for the workbench is seemingly simple:

  • I need to close off the table saw workbench station.
  • Build doors for both (yikes!)
  • Install doors
  • Add door hardware
  • Paint
  • Organize

It’s not an insanely large amount of work however, I’m not looking forward to painting this – aka priming it. The painting part will be very exciting because I’ll be so close to complete at that point.

Next Steps in the Garage

The rest of the garage I’m excited about too. I think there’s something in here I’ve fully forgotten to mention that needs to be highlighted! It’s a critical part of this garage functioning as a gym/work area. So, in the next two weeks (YIKES) here is what else needs to happen:

  • Workbench completion as outlined above
  • Figuring out a curtain system to block off the gym/bikes while I’m using the garage as a work area
  • Organization for the gym area
  • A place for Sloane’s outdoor toys to live
  • A fresh coat of paint on the back wall
  • An update to the dartboard

My gosh, that’s a lot in two weeks. I better go to get this done! LOL

If you’re behind, here’s my post on week 1, week 2, week 3, week 4, and week 5 of the One Room Challenge. And, you can see what everyone else is up to this week on the One Room Challenge Blog! There are so many great spaces out there – I’m so excited to see what everyone else brings!
