At this point in time, I’m guessing you are sensing some OCD tendencies shine through in all of my posts. There is pretty much no end to it. I need everything to be just so. Okay, well, I don’t NEED it to be that way, but I strongly prefer it and thrive when it is that way… especially when it comes to our fridge organization.

This does not end behind closed doors – and doors include fridge doors. My fridge organization is arguably not as good as it could be, but I’m certainly working on it. Don’t get me wrong, it’s pretty good still – expired items are removed in a timely fashion, and leftovers are not welcome in my fridge past three days old. Oh, and most importantly, everything has its place.

There’s a method to all the fridge organization madness, but there are also essential items that I’ve been leaning on to keep it all organized and, of course, pretty. I think the very definition of organized is pretty.

So, as you’ve all guessed, I’m here to share my top three fridge organization tools with you.

Signed Samantha's fridge organization tips include stasher bags which are pictured here. There are four bags all of which have sliced veggies in them including mushrooms, broccoli, brussel sprouts, and cauliflower

Fridge Organization Item # 1. Stackable Berry Containers

This is a new one to my kitchen, and if you follow me on Instagram, you’ve seen me rave about these before, and will see me do it again later today! These stackable berry containers are fantastic for fridge organization.

You know how, when you wash your berries the water is still dripping out the bottom for what seems like forever in the fridge? Provided you wash your berries before you put them in the fridge. Anyways… I clearly do, and this is a problem for me. BUT it is not a problem with these containers! You still have the ability for water to drip out, and your berries not to be sitting soaking in them. PLUS, yes, there is a plus, you can stack it in your fridge.

SPACE and MESS SAVER. A top item for fridge organization!

I bought mine at Home Sense, but these ones from Amazon look very comparable and come in a range of sizes as well!

Fridge Organization Item #2: Stasher Bags

I am overly obsessed with these stasher bags. We’ve taken to prepping our veggies every Saturday night (because we aren’t doing anything else interesting!) so that it makes my evenings making dinner and managing Sloane so much easier. I used to put them into glass Tupperware containers; however, I’ve since switched to these unreal stasher bags and they save us SO much room in the fridge.

These stasher bags can be used for literally anything you want. They are dishwasher proof; you can sous-vide with them; you can use them in the freezer, literally anything. Plus they come in a range of sizes .

I want more to be able to use them for everything as they are intended. We are slowly moving from a disposable plastics family to reusable items only family. I say slowly because it’s a massive investment to ditch things like ziplock bags and purchase and influx of stasher bags. If I could do it more quickly, I would, but for now, I purchase a bag every few months as I work towards my epic collection.

Signed Samantha's fridge organization tips include little ceramic baskets - two are pictured here one red one and one light speckled one with shishito peppers in it and tomatoes, respectively

Fridge Organization Item #3. Ceramic Berry Baskets

I clearly have a thing for berry containers. However, speaking in terms of fridge organization, these ceramic berry baskets can be used for many more things than just berries (as can stackable ones above). Anyways, I love these for storing things like my tomatoes, shishitos (in this case), jalapenos, or little things that you either don’t want to be confused with other veggies (jalapenos vs. mini peppers) or that might roll about and get in the way of other things in your fridge.

These sweet little baskets contain everything you need in one place, plus don’t they look adorable?! Perfect to live on top of your stackable berry containers.

I’ve linked everything below, plus a few more of my favorite items for you. Is there anything I missed that is a must-have for organizing your fridge?!

Loving all of these! You’re inspiring me to clean up & organize my fridge. They’re still working on redoing our kitchen floors, so it’s gonna be a bit until I can do any sort of organizing in there. But as soon as they’re done, you better bet I’m going to be using some of these tips for my fridge!

    • Samantha

Yes! Love it! I also cannot wait to see your kitchen floors and what they’ve done with them!! Exciting!!!

Opening an organized fridge door is like, slipping into fresh bedding after a long hard day. It can be pure bliss, and something I think a lot of people take for granted. You need to take a moment to fully appreciate that moment.
With busy schedules, coupled with having children, being organized not only helps simplify things (especially if you are someone who is overwhelmed easily), it also helps you to make better choices when grabbing a snack when you have no time. Your mind and body will thank you.

PS, I don’t know about you, but an organized fridge also inspires me to cook new things.

You nailed it! Organized everything helps simplify things, keep order and calmness. It also helps food not go bad as when you can see it and are inspired to cook new things, you’re also inspired not to waste what you can see! Or at least I am anyways!!

Hi Ros! Oh my goodness, I’m so glad you commented, thank you so much for the compliments! I would love to see you and catch up! Once the whole COVID thing settles down, we will need to make a trip to Edmonton. XOXO
