I

f you talk to any of our family or friends and ask what dinner time means in our home, they will immediately tell you it's a time we use to connect. Three and a half years ago, McGregor and I decided to change our habits and eat dinner much earlier to eat with Sloane. To this day, dinnertime in our family means everyone is at the table at the same time and enjoying the same meal. Not only is it a place where we connect over delicious food but it is also a place where we connect over our days, new things we learned, and jokes we end up telling. We know the connection you get from sharing a meal extends well past our family, and so does Our Place. Our Place's belief is similar to ours: sharing a home-cooked meal is foundational to connection. What's an even better thought I didn't consider is Our Place's belief that the opposite ends of the world can be connected through stories of tradition in cooking and recipes from different cultures. Of course, this makes perfect sense. I am in love with this belief and am ready for us to get connected, cook together, using my recipe for Creamy Tuscan Pasta below, and share connections from wherever you are in the world right now. But first, let's talk about my Our Place Always Pan 2.0 Review.

My First Thoughts on the Our Place Always Pan 2.0

I am immediately spoiling my review of the Always Pan 2.0 but, honestly, I couldn’t be more excited to see the two newest functions of the Always Pan, baking and roasting. Both these functions have to do with the ability of the Always Pan to go in the OVEN! Finally! That was, in my opinion, a missed opportunity of the first version of the pan – which, by the way, I still thoroughly loved. So that’s it. The Always Pan 2.0 can now go into the oven, which makes it an excellent purchase.

Review over.

The Rest of the Always Pan 2.0 Review

Joking. I could not call this an Always Pan 2.0 Review  if I didn’t also tell you about how much space this pan can save you. If storage space in your kitchen is at a premium, listen up; the Always Pan 2.0 can replace 100 items in your kitchen (okay, maybe closer to 10 items but that’s an incredible amount!). The Always Pan 2.0 does so much, and it does it all well. It bakes and roasts in the oven, which I know I’ve mentioned but it is still very exciting. It also fries, sears, steams, braises, boils, strains, and sautees. Did I mention it’s also pretty enough to make a perfect serving dish?! Functionality-wise, I have to give this a 10/10.

Storing and Cooking With the Always Pan 2.0

Storage-wise, the Always Pan 2.0 deserves a 12/10 – not only does it give you some kitchen storage back (by being able to replace your fry pan, saute pan, steamer, roasting dish, baking dish, skillet, saucier, saucepan, nonstick pan, spatula, and spoon rest) it also is compact in the way it stores – with the steamer basket resting inside the pan, the spatula laying flush along the handle, and the lid perfectly bundling it all together.

Cooking-wise, I’ve learned that you CANNOT cook these non-stick pans on high heat. Even if you think you’re cooking on low heat, go lower. I used to never go past medium with my non-stick pans but I learned that my stove top is ridiculously hot and now I barely go past low to retain that non-stick. Sure, this method requires a little more patience when waiting for the pan to heat up, but it doesn’t bother me mostly because I still get that sizzle I like to hear. AKA the pan heats up and gets HOT. It also evenly distributes the heat which is a big deal when cooking.

Other Our Place Items I Love

Based on my review, I think it is clear to see I’m a big fan of the Always Pan 2.0. It delivers on all its promises and can give you storage space – unheard of- making it a clear winner. I also absolutely love the Perfect Pot; it’s nice and lightweight, can go in the oven, and can strain easily using the lid (hello, fewer dishes!). Another Our Place product that has gotten my attention is the daily board (aka cutting board). Our Place wisely added rubber to either end of the cutting board to eliminate slipping issues. On the topic of cutting, the chef’s knife is wonderfully sharp – one cannot cook without a sharp knife. Finally, another sharp product I love is the shears. Trust me when I say, everyone over 30 needs a pair of kitchen shears. They are a game changer.

Now you know what I love, let’s make this Creamy Tuscan Pasta using my favourite products from Our Place.
