very child becomes obsessed with Frozen at one point or another, right?! How is that movie 11 years old, yet still so popular? Well, once Sloane told me she wanted Elsa at her birthday party, I knew we were having a Frozen-themed Birthday party. The problem is I'm not a big fan of the Frozen theme, and my daughter's birthday parties are for me too... right?! Right! So, what’s a mom to do when she doesn’t like the theme of the party?! She takes that Frozen-themed birthday party and ramps it up a notch... or eighty.

The Five-Year-Old’s Frozen Birthday Party Vibe

In fairness, I’d never deprive my daughter of a Frozen theme. She still got the birthday party of her dreams. However, I limited the traditional Frozen mumbo jumbo you see at most birthdays. My main colour became iridescent. Ya ya, iridescent isn’t a colour – but today, it’s close enough. The point is, I eliminated the pure white snowflakes, the giant Anna and Elsa’s, and the purples and blues that for some reason hurts my eyes. Guess what?! There were zero complaints from the birthday girl because Iridescent is fun. Plus, I invited the real Elsa to come to her birthday! Mom for the win.

The Frozen-Themed Birthday Party Set Up

At first, the weather told me the party would need to be inside. So I set up the playroom using a pink and an iridescent fringe backdrop on the wall (very first photo). It became an almost perfect place for Elsa to set up, sing songs, and read stories to the children. Then, I framed it out with an Olaf pinata and a silver number 5 balloon. Perfect for photos and Elsa’s entertainment. However, the weather pulled a fast one at the last minute, and we moved the party outdoors! With a swift swap, I made the same set-up happen under a shade tent – less refined (ugh) but still cute (second photo). The belle of the Frozen-themed birthday party decor ball may have been the iridescent chandelier I found which I appropriately hung in the middle of the shade tent.

Other Important Birthday Party Set-Up Notes

I had to add iridescent flair in the form of snowflakes and stars off the chandelier in the dining room for that icy Elsa vibe. I also added a balloon garland, because I will forever and always love my balloon garlands. We needed this extra decor because good food and drinks are a must at any party. It’s where everyone tends to congregate – especially 5-year-olds with excellent palates. The birthday girl, birthday guests, and the cast of Frozen no doubt love a good old-fashioned charcuterie board, mini treats that are made to look fancier than they are thanks to the vessels they are placed in, and of course snowflake cupcakes. Also – goodie bags – I found these epic Disney Princess affirmation cards and couldn’t resist.

That’s it! Not too shabby for a Frozen-themed birthday party right?!
